ICYMI: Working Matters Coalition member MomsRising was in Annapolis today to call on lawmakers to “use their super powers” to pass the Healthy Working Families Act (HB1/SB230), which would guarantee earned paid sick days for an estimated 512,000 working Marylanders who currently don’t have paid sick leave. Nearly 40 kids, wearing superhero capes, joined their parents to talk to members of the General Assembly and deliver stories from working people across the state who don’t have access to paid sick leave, and too often find themselves choosing between their families or a day’s wages. The storybook that the kids delivered to lawmakers is attached to this email.
Lead sponsors of the bill, Del. Luke Clippinger and Sen. Thomas “Mac” Middleton, donned their own superhero capes and met the kids and their parents on the Statehouse steps.
